New Board Chair for Integral

Michael Nyenhuis, the President of MAP International Michael says: “I am excited to lead the Integral Board for the next two years. We have a growing, healthy alliance that is already doing great things and is poised to do even more. Our strong position has a lot to do with the great leadership Laurie Cook has provided to us over the past 9 years. I am humbled to follow him in this role.” Laurie Cook, the President of World Relief Canada, has served as the Integral Board Chair since Integral started in 2004. He says: “It has been a great privilege to serve the Board of Integral for these last 9 years in the role of Chair. So much has been accomplished through building trust and relationships. For me personally, I have learned so much about poverty and injustice through the shared perspectives of incredible organisations and their leadership. But beyond that, I have also found a much deeper spiritual life through sharing journeys with leaders from around the world.” Laurie continues: “I’d also like to offer my sincere thanks to Fiona Boshoff, the Integral International Director, and the rest of the Integral Secretariat team for providing the structure and organisation that delivers on all the above. As I reflected on what I was hearing at my final chairing session, I became so excited about where the Integral Alliance is, and where I believe it will go under Michael Nyenhuis' leadership.”

Living Out Your Passions

Nathalie Dobozy, Marketing & Communications Director for SEL France Where are you from?  I was born in the north of France, but lived for a long time in the south, in Toulouse and in Ajaccio. What has been your most interesting job, apart from your current one? I learnt a lot while working for France Telecom as a consultant in internal communications. Analysing the social climate and the relations between the regional directors and their employees taught me a lot about the nature of human relationships. What is the main motivation for your work? What motivates me in this job is being able to live out the 3 great passions of my youth: faith in Jesus Christ, social concern and good communication. What has been your most memorable country visit with work, and why? I’ve only been on one trip so far in a professional capacity - to the Democratic Republic of Congo. Even though I’ve travelled a lot apart from that, and often on my own, I’ve never had such an unforgettable experience as when I was in Congo to meet our partners. The most moving moment was when we visited a health centre, and in particular the delivery room which was in the most appalling state of disrepair … Contrary to what one might expect, it wasn’t seeing the children or the women that reduced me to tears, but the sight of that place … What do you enjoy most about your current job? Giving the go-ahead to launch an appeal for gifts … and waiting for the results! What do you find the most challenging? To succeed in motivating my colleagues to commit themselves to publicity campaigns that make sense, are pleasing to God and are effective! What has been your work highlight so far this year? It’s what I’m doing right now! Launching a campaign on the theme of “sharing", in all its many different aspects. What do you find inspiring about Integral? Meeting, in such a short space of time, so many men and women who are motivated by the same 3 passions as me! How do you relax? I play golf with my husband, go shopping with my daughter, listen to my son playing the guitar, cook special dishes with my elder son … and, when I’m on my own, reading! What skill do you have that many don't know you possess?   That’s difficult to say because your skills aren’t worth anything unless they’re recognised by others … What's the most useful piece of work advice you have ever received?  "Give yourself to the Lord, trust in Him and He will help you ..." What's your favourite quote?  "They didn't know it was impossible, so they did it!"
