Integral Respondng to Syrian Crisis

Integral has launched its Disaster Response process for the Syrian Crisis, building on the work that Integral Members have already been carrying out in the region. On 26 April 2013 OCHA reported that about 80,000 people have been killed since the conflict began two years ago. An estimated 6.8 million Syrians, or almost one-third of the entire population, now require humanitarian assistance, including 4.25 million internally displaced people and 1.44 million refugees. Around 3.1 million, or some 50 per cent of those who require assistance, are children ...

Integral Cooperation in Bangladesh

Integral Members with work in Bangladesh had a in-country meeting last month to explore how they could more effectively work together. Altogether 9 representatives from 5 Integral Members were present - Tearfund (UK), World Renew, World Concern, Food for the Hungry and Baptist World Aid Australia ...

This month we report on an Integral cooperation between Tearfund (UK) and SEL France in Mali. Working through local partner TNT, funds were given to provide emergency grain to tide over conflict-affected communities in Timbuktu and Gao until harvest-time. TNT, in collaboration with representatives of these communities, offered 20 tons of rice to the most vulnerable households. As an example of Integral collaboration, we are pleased to report on the outcome of a bilateral project that completed at the end of last year. Cedar Fund (Hong Kong) provided funding support for Tearfund (UK)'s project "Reinforcing Rural Community Resilience in post-earthquake Haiti". The project worked in three Haitian communities in order to increase food security and reduce vulnerabilities to disasters ...

Historic Moment for Integral!

October 2012 saw the coming together of all the Integral groups - the Board, Programmes and Marketing, for the first time since the alliance's founding in 2005. Tear Netherlands hosted the meetings - the timetable featured a joint dinner (with speeches between courses!) for all three groups and a joint day that the Integral Marketing and Programme groups shared to discuss cross-cutting issues ...

Jan Eyre, Integral's DM Manager, said, "Bringing the Integral Marketing and Programme Groups together was a really valuable exercise, and I feel that the initiative will bear fruit way in to the future as we seek to deepen and develop our collaborative practice, particularly in relation to disasters...
